British musician Sting, who boasts a fortune of roughly $300 million, is putting on the market his ultra-stylish duplex penthouse at 15 Central Park in New York City with an eye-watering asking price of $56 million.
Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, have owned the two-floor 5,417-square-foot condo since 2008, when it had a purchase price of just $27 million. The gorgeous property consists of three bedrooms, including a master suite with two dressing rooms and two bathrooms, a 396-square-foot "entertaining terrace" with heaters and a canopy, and an all-white kitchen with two refrigerators, four ovens and three dishwashers. Other striking features include 10-foot ceilings, a floating spiral fireplace, two custom sculptural spiral staircases and jaw-dropping views of Central Park.
The future inhabitant of this penthouse will also have access to the building's numerous facilities, including a fitness center, a sauna, a screening room, a private restaurant and a 75-foot pool among other things.
The dual limestone towers where the duplex is located was considered one of the most luxurious developments in New York City at the time of its completion in 2007. Some early investors at the property have since resold the units they purchased in some cases for more than double the initial price. For instance, in January this year a 3,000-square-foot condo sold for $27.5 million, up from the $12.2 million purchase price in 2008, while Citigroup Chairman Sandy Weill sold his property at the tower in 2012 for $88 million, up from $43.7 million originally.
